Cat Specialist Services (CSS) was founded by Dr Rachel Korman, a feline specialist who trained in the United Kingdom, with the vision of creating a hospital dedicated exclusively to cats. Since its establishment, CSS has been providing advanced, stress‑minimised, and compassionate care for feline patients across South East Queensland. Our hospital combines specialist veterinary expertise with a cat‑friendly environment, ensuring the best outcomes for patients while supporting a collaborative and professional team culture.

Our services include internal medicine, cardiology, surgery, oncology, critical care, dentistry, nursing, and support services. We also host our Annual Conference to support ongoing learning and professional development.

We are seeking to engage compassionate and adaptable casual Veterinary Nurses with a strong interest in feline care to support our team during weekends, public holidays, and staff leave periods. This role is essential in maintaining continuity of high-quality patient care and ensuring a low-stress, cat-friendly environment.

 

Job Description

The role is to provide clinical and patient care support with a feline-focused approach, assisting veterinarians and the broader nursing team in delivering safe, efficient, and empathetic care to our patients and their owners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with consultations, diagnostics, and minor procedures, with particular attention to feline handling and stress minimisation
  • Monitor hospitalised patients, including anaesthetic monitoring and post-operative care
  • Maintain accurate patient records and treatment plans
  • Prepare and maintain clinical areas, ensuring cleanliness and infection control standards are met
  • Provide client support and education

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent)
  • 2-3 years experience in a veterinary clinic, with confidence in feline handling
  • Understanding of feline behaviour and low-stress handling techniques
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, ability to work autonomously
  • Availability for weekends (Saturdays), public holidays, and flexible shifts
  • Commitment to ongoing learning and best-practice care
